The Seminar on the First Drafts of Three National Standards including 《Storage Equipment for Bulk Materials — Safety Specifications》 was held in Qinhuangdao.

From July 10 to 12, 2024, the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Continuous Handling Machinery (hereinafter referred to as the Technical Committee for Continuous Handling Machinery) held a seminar on the first drafts of three national standards in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, namely Storage Equipment for Bulk Materials — Safety Specifications, Continuous Mechanical Handling Equipment — Belt Conveyors with Carrying Idlers — Calculation of Operating Power and Tensile Forces and Conveying Machinery — Code for Inspection and Maintenance — Part 2: Scraper Conveyors. The meeting was attended by drafters of the standards, industry experts and secretariat staff, totaling 21 representatives from 18 organizations.

The seminar was presided over by Senior Engineer Xing Lei from the Standards Department of Beijing Materials Handling Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as BMHRI). At the opening ceremony, Chairman Wang Shunting of the Technical Committee for Continuous Handling Machinery delivered a speech, and Director Xu Chunyang of Qinhuangdao Port Co., Ltd., the meeting organizer, gave a welcome address.
In his speech, Chairman Wang Shunting reviewed the achievements achieved in the formulation and revision of continuous handling machinery standards over recent years, and put forward requirements of standardization, advancement and scientificity for the development of the three national standards as well as the discussions at this seminar.

The national standards Storage Equipment for Bulk Materials — Safety Specifications, Continuous Mechanical Handling Equipment — Belt Conveyors with Carrying Idlers — Calculation of Operating Power and Tensile Forces and Conveying Machinery — Code for Inspection and Maintenance — Part 2: Scraper Conveyors were jointly developed and revised by Qinhuangdao Port Co., Ltd., Huadian Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., Qingdao Daneng Environmental Equipment Co., Ltd. and other institutions respectively. After listening to presentations from the lead drafting parties covering the overall compilation concepts, main working procedures, core technical contents and relevant revision basis, participating experts carried out thorough chapter-by-chapter and clause-by-clause discussions on the first drafts of the three national standards and put forward a number of revision comments and suggestions. Finally, all experts unanimously approved the first drafts of the three national standards through consultation.

Thanks to the strong support of the organizer and the joint efforts of all participants, the seminar successfully fulfilled all scheduled tasks.

The formulation and revision of the above three national standards are of great guiding significance for further upgrading the technical level of standards, tightening safety requirements, supplementing contents matching current technical progress, and thereby promoting the safe and energy-saving development of relevant equipment.
